jfid – Pi Network, a crypto project aiming to build an inclusive, mobile-based peer-to-peer ecosystem,
has released an updated roadmap outlining key developments in the ecosystem leading up to the launch of the Open Mainnet.
The Open Mainnet represents the final stage of Pi Network’s transition to a decentralized blockchain.
It will enable Pi users to connect to the network, wallets, and other platforms, as well as trade Pi with other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies.
Pi Network’s roadmap consists of three phases: Beta, Testnet, and Mainnet. The Mainnet phase is further divided into Enclosed Mainnet and Open Mainnet. Currently,
Pi Network is in the Enclosed Mainnet phase, where the main network is live, but a firewall prevents unwanted external connections.
During this phase, Pi users can undergo identity verification (KYC) and transfer their Pi to the main network blockchain, while the community builds applications and utilities on the Enclosed Mainnet for the network.
However, the biggest question on the minds of millions of Pi users worldwide is: When will Pi Network officially open the Open Mainnet?
The Open Mainnet is the period during which the firewall in the Enclosed Mainnet phase will be removed, allowing any external connections, such as to the network, wallets, and anyone wishing to connect to the Pi Mainnet.
In other words, the Open Mainnet is the time when Pi will become a fully functional crypto and can be transacted on the global market.
According to the core Pi Network team, the start of Open Mainnet depends on the maturity of the Enclosed Network ecosystem and the progress of KYC in the network.
The Pi Network core team has not provided a specific date for the launch of Open Mainnet, but some speculative sources have suggested several possible times, such as:
- January 1, 2024: Some Pi users believe that Pi Network will open the Open Mainnet at the beginning of the new year, symbolizing a fresh start for this innovative crypto project. Additionally, this date coincides with Pi Network’s sixth anniversary, which began on March 14, 2019.
- March 14, 2024: This date is Pi Day, celebrated by math and crypto enthusiasts worldwide because the number 3.14 is the approximate value of the mathematical constant pi. Pi Network also chose this date as its official launch date in 2019 and the start date of the Testnet phase in 2020. Therefore, there is a possibility that Pi Network will open the Open Mainnet on Pi Day 2024, as the culmination of this pi-inspired crypto project’s journey.
- June 28, 2024: This date marks Pi Network’s birthday, the day when the Pi mining app first became available in the main app store as an alpha prototype in December 2018. Since then, Pi Network has grown rapidly and reached over 30 million users worldwide. Opening the Open Mainnet on Pi Network’s birthday could be a way to celebrate this remarkable achievement and appreciate the contributions of Pi users.
Certainly, the above dates are only unofficial and unreliable estimates, and only the Pi Network core team can determine when Open Mainnet will be launched.
However, it is certain that Pi Network continues to strive to achieve its ultimate goal: to build the world’s largest and most inclusive peer-to-peer ecosystem, supported by Pi, the most widely used crypto in the world.
