jfid – Jakarta, MAP Group, one of Indonesia’s largest retail companies, has come under public scrutiny after the ZARA clothing brand they distribute in Indonesia was identified as one of the pro-Israel products.

ZARA is one among 121 products mentioned as supporters of Israel in their military aggression against Palestine.

According to reports from the Indonesian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement, an organization advocating for the rights of Palestinians, ZARA is a major target for boycott due to its direct involvement in Israeli apartheid crimes.

ZARA is known to be a major sponsor of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), an organization supporting the Israeli army’s massacres of Palestinian civilians.

Besides ZARA, MAP Group also distributes several other products listed under the BDS Indonesia boycott, including Puma, Nike, Adidas, Calvin Klein, Levis, Chanel, Gucci, H&M, GAP, Marks & Spencer, Boss, Hugo, Timberland, Giogiarmani, and Tommy Hilfiger.

All these products are accused of directly or indirectly supporting Israeli Zionism.

MAP Group itself is a retail company established since 1995, with over 2,600 retail outlets in 76 cities across Indonesia. They sell various products, from clothing, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, toys, to food and beverages.

MAP Group also operates several malls and supermarkets, such as Foodhall, Kem Chicks, and SOGO.

In response to the boycott of pro-Israel products, MAP Group has not issued an official statement yet. However, some ZARA outlets in Jakarta reportedly have seen decreased foot traffic, with some temporarily closing.

This indicates that the boycott movement against pro-Israel products is starting to impact MAP Group’s business.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has issued a fatwa declaring it as forbidden (haram) to support Israel’s aggression towards Palestine, whether directly or indirectly.

This includes recommending that people refrain from using pro-Israel products. MUI also urges Muslims to support Palestinian independence in ways consistent with Islamic law.
