jfid – The highly anticipated official trailer for the Bob Marley biographical film was finally released by Paramount Pictures on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

Titled ‘One Love,’ the film will narrate the life and music of the reggae icon who inspired generations through messages of love and unity.

Produced in collaboration with the Marley family, the movie stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as the legendary musician and Lashana Lynch as his wife, Rita.

The film also features James Norton, Tosin Cole, Anthony Welsh, Michael Gandolfini, Umi Myers, and Nadine Marshall in supporting roles.

This two-minute-plus trailer showcases pivotal scenes from Bob Marley’s life, starting from his childhood in Jamaica, his struggles against poverty and racism, his skyrocketing music career, to his complex relationships with family and women.

One attention-grabbing scene depicts Bob Marley being shot by an unidentified assailant at his home in 1976, just days before the government-sponsored ‘Smile Jamaica’ concert. The scene illustrates how Bob Marley continued to perform on stage despite severe injuries, stating, “People trying to make this world worse aren’t taking a day off, so why should I?”

The trailer also unveils undisclosed personal conflicts of Bob Marley, such as his affair with Cindy Breakspeare, Miss World 1976, who gave birth to his son Damian Marley, and his estrangement from his white father, Norval Marley, who left him when he was a child.

The film is expected to provide a deeper and more balanced portrayal of Bob Marley, known not only as a music star but also as a social activist, spiritual leader, and cultural symbol.

‘One Love’ will premiere in theaters on February 14, 2024, coinciding with Valentine’s Day. The film will also be available on the Paramount+ streaming platform in March 2024.
