Extreme heat conditions in Mina have necessitated specific guidelines from PPIH for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.

In an effort to ensure the safety and health of pilgrims, PPIH has introduced new rules regarding the stoning ritual and safety supervision under extreme weather conditions in Mina.

Extreme heat in Mina, Saudi Arabia, has become a focal point during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. This has prompted the Indonesian Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) to issue specific guidelines for Indonesian pilgrims regarding the schedule for the stoning ritual (jumrah).

PPIH has instructed Indonesian pilgrims not to perform the stoning ritual before 4:00 PM local time. This precautionary measure aims to avoid heatstroke and other heat-related health risks.

This decision comes in response to the extreme weather conditions in Mina, where temperatures can soar during daytime hours. “We are deeply concerned about the weather conditions in Mina, which pose risks to pilgrims, especially those vulnerable to heat,” said a spokesperson for PPIH.

Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, numbering in the thousands, are the primary focus of these guidelines. They are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to the safety instructions provided.

These guidelines apply specifically in Mina, a significant location in the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia where pilgrims perform the stoning ritual.

These guidelines are in effect throughout the Hajj pilgrimage period this year, with particular emphasis on peak daytime hours when temperatures in Mina are at their highest.

Pilgrims are advised to stay hydrated with plenty of water and to take care of their physical health. They are also encouraged to stay with their groups and seek assistance from officials if needed.

According to Dr. H. Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, M.A., M.Sc., Deputy Minister for Coordination of Hajj and Umrah Affairs at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, “We urge Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to comply with the established rules to ensure their safety and health amid these extreme weather conditions.”

With extreme weather in Mina posing a significant challenge, PPIH Indonesia is making every effort to ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience for all pilgrims.

The guidelines not only regulate the schedule for the stoning ritual but also promote collaboration and vigilance among Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during their sacred journey in the Holy Land.

Thus, stringent supervision and coordination among authorities, officials, and pilgrims are crucial to the successful conduct of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage amidst these exceptional weather conditions.
