Prabhas Breaks Record! ‘Salaar’ Box Office Collection Earns Trillions in 8 Days

jfid – The film starring Prabhas and directed by Prashanth Neel has set a new record in the Indian and global box office.

In just eight days since its release on December 22, 2023, the film has earned a whopping Rs 600 crore (approximately $1.6 billion) globally, making it the seventh Indian film to achieve this milestone in 2023.

This marks Prabhas’ third film to enter the Rs 500 crore club, following Baahubali and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, both directed by SS Rajamouli. Prabhas becomes the first Indian actor with three films grossing over Rs 500 crore.

Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire is the first film in the trilogy depicting the friendship and rivalry between two characters, Salaar (Prabhas) and Jailer (Prithviraj Sukumaran), set in the fictional city of Khansaar.

The film also stars Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Tinnu Anand, Sriya Reddy, and Easwari Rao.

Rebel Star, as Prabhas is known to his fans, has received warm applause from both fans and critics, praising the performances, direction, cinematography, music, and spectacular action sequences.

Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar have also congratulated Prabhas and his team.

The film has also set records in the North American box office, grossing over $10 million in eight days, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film there in 2023.

It has also achieved success in other international markets, including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.

Released in five languages—Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada—the film has attracted a diverse audience from across India.

The Telugu version leads in revenue with Rs 230 crore, followed by the Hindi version with Rs 120 crore.

The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions earned Rs 20 crore, Rs 15 crore, and Rs 10 crore, respectively.

Salaar is the first Indian film to use the Premium Large Format (PLF), offering a more immersive and high-quality viewing experience.

Shown in over 500 PLF screens worldwide, the film has received positive responses from audiences.

Produced by Hombale Films with a budget of Rs 150 crore, the film is expected to generate a profit of Rs 450 crore, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

It is also the first Indian film simultaneously released on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform at Rs 499 per ticket.

The film has garnered over 10 million viewers on the platform, becoming the most-watched Indian film on Disney+ Hotstar.

Additionally, Salaar is the first Indian film to secure adaptation rights by Hollywood, titled “The Rebel.”

The Hollywood adaptation will star Chris Hemsworth as Salaar and Tom Hardy as Jailer, directed by Christopher Nolan, scheduled for release in 2025.

Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire marks the beginning of a new era in Indian cinema, showcasing that Indian films can compete with Hollywood in terms of both quality and quantity.

It further establishes Prabhas as one of India’s brightest stars with remarkable global appeal.
