jfid – The independent research institution, The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC), has released the list of 500 Influential Muslim Figures in the World for 2024.
In this list, three Indonesian figures have secured a place in the top 50, namely President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Chairman of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya), and charismatic cleric Habib Muhammad Luthfi bin Yahya (Habib Luthfi).
The aim of the list of 500 influential Muslim figures worldwide is to measure the influence of these figures within their communities.
The selection for this publication does not imply RISSC’s endorsement of their views but aims to gauge their influence.
Influential Muslim figures are categorized into rulers and politicians, scholars and preachers, and those involved in social issues, media, science, arts, culture, and sports.
Jokowi falls under the rulers and politicians category, while Gus Yahya and Habib Luthfi are categorized as scholars and preachers.
