He has been accused by conservative media outlets of being one of the individuals featured in a leaked video that reveals sexual activities taking place in the U.S. Senate chamber.
Additionally, Maese-Czeropski has been alleged to have shouted “Free Palestine!” at Republican Congressman Max Miller during an interview with an NBC News reporter. Consequently, he no longer holds a position in the Senate and has opted to relocate to Russia.
The sex scandal involving Maese-Czeropski originated when The Daily Caller, a conservative media outlet, released a video claiming to depict a congressional staff member engaging in a sexual act with an unidentified man in the Senate chamber.
This video purportedly circulated within a private group for gay men involved in the political sphere. Subsequently, other conservative media sources identified Maese-Czeropski, who served as a legislative assistant to Cardin, as one of the individuals involved in the video.
Despite NBC News being unable to authenticate the video or confirm the identities of the participants, Cardin’s office issued a statement on Saturday announcing that Maese-Czeropski was no longer employed in the Senate.
“We will not provide further comments on this personal matter,” stated the release.
Maese-Czeropski himself has refuted the accusations against him. In a LinkedIn post on Friday night, he acknowledged having displayed “poor judgment” in the past but affirmed that he would “never demean his workplace.” He also claimed to be targeted for his personal relationships in order to advance a specific political agenda.
“While some of my past actions may demonstrate poor judgment, I love my job, and I will never demean my workplace,” he asserted.
He further declared that any efforts to portray his actions differently are false, and he intends to explore legal options available to him.
Addressing the allegations involving Max Miller, Maese-Czeropski stated, “I have never seen that congressman and had no opportunity or reason to shout or confront him.”
NBC News was also unable to identify the staff member involved in that particular interaction.
Following the revelation of the sex scandal, Maese-Czeropski made the decision to relocate to Russia, citing the difficulty of the choice and expressing a sense of increased safety in his new location.
He issued an apology to the Russian people for the aggressive stance exhibited by certain American elites.
“I’m still a bit confused, but I feel very good,” Maese-Czeropski conveyed to Sputnik, a Russian media outlet supporting President Vladimir Putin, while seated with Maria Butina, a Russian agent formerly imprisoned in the U.S. and now a member of the Russian parliament.
“I feel very surrounded by protection and security,” he added.
Maese-Czeropski indicated a desire to reside in both countries but acknowledged the possibility of remaining solely in Russia. “That’s okay,” he remarked.
