jfid – This year’s Hajj season is marked by extreme heat in Mina, Saudi Arabia, with temperatures soaring above 50 degrees Celsius. This condition raises concerns for the health of pilgrims, especially those vulnerable such as the elderly, the sick, and individuals with specific health conditions.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has issued an advisory to all pilgrims to be vigilant about the extreme weather conditions in Mina and to take necessary preventive measures to safeguard their health and safety during the pilgrimage.
Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim, a doctor stationed in Mina, emphasized that extreme heat can lead to serious health issues such as dehydration and fatigue among pilgrims. “It is crucial for pilgrims to always carry an adequate supply of water and consume it regularly, even if they do not feel intensely thirsty,” he stated.
Here are some tips provided to pilgrims to cope with the extreme heat:
- Choose Late Afternoon or Evening for Stoning the Jamarat: Avoid stoning rituals under direct sunlight by opting for late afternoon or evening hours.
- Delegate Stoning Rituals: Pilgrims who are unable to perform the stoning rituals themselves due to health reasons are permitted to delegate this task to another pilgrim or a designated helper.
- Stay in Groups and Seek Assistance from Officials: Always stay in groups and seek assistance from Hajj officials when needed, particularly for pilgrims with special needs.
- Carry Sufficient Drinking Water: Ensure to carry an ample supply of drinking water and consume it regularly to prevent dehydration.
- Adhere to Scheduled Stoning Timings: Follow the scheduled timings for stoning rituals to avoid overcrowding and potential incidents at the Jamarat site.
By adhering to these tips and prioritizing personal health, it is hoped that pilgrims can perform their Hajj rituals safely and devoutly.
