jfid – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recently made waves on the international stage by exposing the ‘blemishes’ of the European Union in front of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

This bilateral meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the World Climate Action Summit COP 28 in Dubai, highlighted Jokowi’s firm and diplomatic attitude in dealing with the European Union.

First, Jokowi condemned the European Union’s policies that were considered discriminatory against Indonesia. Although Indonesia has successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions and controlled deforestation, the European Union still doubts Indonesia’s commitment to forest and environmental conservation.

This shows that Jokowi is not afraid to speak loudly and honestly about the issues that are considered important by Indonesia.

Second, Jokowi showed his concern for his people. He emphasized that 16 million Indonesians depend on the plantation sector, especially palm oil.

By highlighting the impact of the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation on small farmers, Jokowi showed that he prioritized the interests of his people.

Third, Jokowi showed his commitment to international cooperation. He hoped that Norway could realize the commitment of the Joint Exploration Team Project (JETP) as soon as possible and increase investment in the development of the Nusantara Capital City as a smart city based on forests.

This shows that Jokowi sees the importance of cooperation and knowledge exchange in achieving sustainable development goals.

Finally, Jokowi showed his concern for the global situation, especially in Gaza. He hoped that Norway, as the facilitator of the Oslo Agreement, could contribute again in finding a solution for the immediate start of the peace process based on the two-state solution. This shows that Jokowi understands the importance of global peace and stability.

Overall, this meeting showed that Jokowi is a leader who is brave, caring, and committed to his people and world peace.

He is not afraid to speak loudly and honestly, and he always prioritizes the interests of his people. This is a good example of effective and result-oriented leadership.
